HEAVY LEGACY

Sludge-drenched spiritualism and cosmic weight define the next chapter of New Hampshire stoner-doom trio Lizzy, now signed to Italian powerhouse Argonauta Records and its (un)parallel imprint Octopus Rising. The band invites listeners into a slow-burning descent of drone, distortion, and ritualistic trance—music that feels less like songs and more like sonic invocations.

Formed in 2017 by Andrew Szmauz and Taylor Paradis and now completed by bassist Alex Vance, Lizzy has expanded from a raw, stripped-down duo into a towering three-piece. Their sound fuses tectonic sludge riffs and hypnotic stoner-doom grooves with a spiritual undercurrent rooted in minimalism, repetition, and global musical traditions.

Drawing from the monolithic crawl of Black Sabbath, the meditative gravity of OM, and the molten aggression of Sleep and High On Fire, Lizzy further bends genre expectations by channeling baroque flourishes, flamenco tension, and North Indian and Middle Eastern tonalities. The result is a low-end-heavy, trance-inducing assault where droning mantras collide with blown-out amplification and feedback-scarred heaviness.

As IfItstooloud.com wrote of their debut Dirty War Machine: “Lizzy feels like the plodding side of Black Sabbath, the sludge of the Melvins, the groove of early Queens of the Stone Age, and the unhinged noise bursts of Lightning Bolt—all in the same song.”

Their upcoming full-length promises an even deeper immersion: dropped-C riffs, amps pushed to the edge, sprawling compositions drenched in feedback, and vast, meditative atmospheres that pull the listener into uncharted sonic temples.
